🦄Between you and me, this is one of the most important posts I've made thus far, but I have a feeling many will overlook it because there's no direct tie to fat loss or muscle gain or yada yada yada. Ironically, once you understand and internalize what I've said here, all that stuff (fat loss, building muscle, etc) becomes much more effortless.
☕️ The most common question I get here on IG is how to increase motivation. How to build up the "oomph" to get in the gym...to eat healthy...to make all the choices you know you should make, but don't always have the willpower to follow through.
🍕The secret? Quit relying on motivation - start focusing on building sustainable habits.
🥐Motivation is fickle. Fleeting. Overpowering one moment, no where to be found the next. Relying on motivation always feels like the smart move. Because when you're motivated, nothing can stand in your way. But, as you probably know, no one stays motivated forever. And, eventually, something will happen in your life that takes your focus elsewhere.
🌈It's in those moments - the ones that take your focus elsewhere - habits become crucial. Because habits don't just leave. They don't run away or get sick or put up a fight. Habits are part of who you are and what you do. They are ingrained within you as an integral component of your life. They aren't always easy to create. But once you do, they will never let you down.
🛶By all means, take advantage of motivation when it comes around. But use it as a tool to build sustainable habits for the long-term; not a driver for short-term quick fixes. Because anyone can do something intense for a short period of time. But only someone with solidified habits can succeed for years on end.
