Dan John speaks some powerful messages. This one has always resonated with me, because it applies directly to the people I work with. Not all athletes need phases and blocks of hypertrophy, strength, speed, CNS, or whatever you want to insert there, especially if they are just beginning. BUT! You cannot expect a person to adapt to 5 different types of training and expect them to be great at all of them at once. A movement, parameter, or habit needs to be taught independent of others, to ensure consistency and growth is met. An easy example is teaching a person to do a push-up. I wouldn’t teach them to stabilize their trunk and then immediately go into proper technique of a box jump. There are plenty of examples that apply. Read the quote a few times and really think about how this applies to what you. It doesn’t have to be fitness related, it applies to everyday life as well.
